Barrea is one of
the little towns in the Abruzzo national Park and thanks to
its geographic location it overlooks the valley and
the lake formed by the Sangro river. Its origin dates back to the
pre-roman age and amazingly, Barrea still retains the charm and
antiquity of the middle Ages. A visit to
the town will prove very interesting: you may visit the
Middle Aged Castle, the doors of the city wall, and
the many eighteenth century buildings. You may stroll
the ancient streets of the town marvelling at the beautiful
fountains as well as many churches of
different historical ages. Barrea is the departure point for
many mountain excursions such as the Forca Resuni
mountain hut. You may also reach Vivo Lake, the Greco Mountain
and
many other amazing sites.
